Mountain View Retreat is a project where the natural environment is at the heart of the design selections, while comfort is at the forefront for function – no matter the activity or time of year.
The carefully curated use of glass complements beautifully with organic materials like cedar, schist, and natural stone, cultivating an authentic and textured aesthetic that feels both sophisticated and harmonious with its surroundings.
Central to this theme, expansive sliding and stacking doors, championed throughout the design, ensure effortless access and fosters a sense of openness that transforms the home into a true haven of relaxation. These “moveable walls” expertly blur the boundaries between nature and architecture, creating a fluid transition through spaces that enhances the user experience in this tranquil rural setting.
The extensive use of large glazing not only maximises natural light but also draws the eye toward breathtaking mountain vistas, transforming the outdoor space into an extension of the living areas. Boasting airtight, triple glazed, thermally broken aluminium joinery throughout, that provides exceptional insulation and energy efficiency, as well as acoustic performance too, keeping the inside a sanctuary from any weather condition all year round.
Featuring an impressive glazed indoor pool area, where meticulously considered product selections control humidity and prevent condensation, maintaining a pristine environment suitable for year-round enjoyment. Fully opening doors offer the ability to keep the chill out during winter months or have seamless movement to entertainment spaces on long summer days.
Custom skylights flood the space with sunlight, without harsh glare, but also deliver whimsical moments to gaze upon passing clouds, adding an element of serenity and wonder to the daily routine.
